Through the night, workers erect sections of the Berlin Wall along Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles. LOOK artist, Kent Twitchell will be involved in painting one of the sections.
Artists paint sections of the original Berlin Wall to commemorate the 20th anniversary of its destruction. Los Angeles muralist and LOOK artist, Kent Twitchell has been selected to contribute to the project. 10 sections of the wall have been placed along Wilshire Blvd facing the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA).
Kent Twitchell, along with LA artist Shephard Fairy and German artist Thierry Noir and others will contribute to the construction and painting of a wall spanning Wilshire Blvd. in Los Angeles on November 8, 2009, scheduled to stand for four hours — marking the twentieth anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. Twitchell plans to paint portraits of presidents Kennedy and Reagan on the structure.

Kent’s latest show at LOOK Gallery gets a glowing review in the LA Times Blog, Culture Monster. Twitchell on his subject matter: “I’m not interested in women in their 20s and 30s; to me they haven’t developed yet. But when they start getting into their 40s and 50s, that’s beautiful — you can really make a statement with them”.
